Shape Development

The other week I did some shape development using things in my sketchbook to inform my shapes.
I looked at pacman so I decided to cut a pacman ghost chain, here are some of the shapes I came up with

I then looked into ice cream and used some of the shapes on the stand.

I also added in a few bows because its me! ^.^

Thanks for reading!! What do you think of my shape development??

Sketchbook Work

Ive currently been slowly progressing with my sketch book, I have been looking into kpop music videos and what aspects are put together to create the whole crazy and exciting look of kpop stars and Japanese fashion.

Here are some of the first pages from my sketchbook

I started by looking into snsd's music video for I got a boy.

I really liked the wall paper theme they used so I went to B&Q and got some wallpaper samples and did some shape development.

I then thought toys were a big part of creating the kpop/Japanese decora look so I looked into pac man as I thought as a retro video game this was quite a big influence and a very popular game even still.

I then looked into lego as I thought this could be a huge inspiration I love the colours and how geographically cool they look.

Here I tried creating a lego print using a circle of card and printing the paint onto a page. I love the effect of lego and unfortunately I am becoming lego obsessed!!

Thanks for reading!! I will soon post more images of my book!

Great Things Can Come Out Of Boredom

2 years ago I decided to start a sketch book and I vowed to fill  it! (well that didn't happen)
Because I'm a perfectionist I actually ended up ripping out a lot of pages.

However after a while I really got into watching Anime's, Ive always enjoyed drawing them too, last year I decided to try drawing them more professionally(ish)

Here are some of my favourites from my sketchbook (of course I used a reference, I'm only half asian)

Thanks for reading!! What do you guys think of my drawings??

Do you like anime??

Sketchbook Update

Here is an update on my sketchbook. I started by looking at two contrasting decades.

I started by looking into roman clothing and the pleats an drapes of the fabric.

I also then looked into the delphos dress by Mariano Fortuny which is made up of pleated silk.

I then looked at georgian clothing and focused on embellishments such as bows.

for bows I looked at Victor and rolf's collection 'FlowerBomb'

I then went on to look at the structure of the Georgian garments and I looked at corsets and petticoats, when I was researching into corsets I found the woman with the thinnest waist in the world she called Cathie Jung she is over 70 years old, has a 15" waist and has spent  the last 25 years laced in tight corsets

The edges of the petticoat reminded me of clouds so I started to look into them.

From clouds I thought of rain and the shapes of the willow tree leaves reminded me of the rain this also lead me back to the kanzashi shapes.

Thanks for reading! I still have some annotation missing but al the research is done
